Saba Alapour

Post-Doc 

Saba is a highly skilled synthetic organic chemist and has great knowledge of heteroatom chemistry, catalysis and crystallography. She graduated from her Ph.D. on the synthesis of fluorinated chiral compounds. She is an expert in design, synthesis, characterization and careful installation of fluorine in organic compounds to alter their behaviour to achieve the targeted properties.

Her main expertise is to develop inexpensive facile procedures for the synthesis of biologically important molecules via designing novel methods or metal/asymmetric catalysts.

​

She has experience in the design and synthesis of linkers and using them in bioconjugation and cell-penetrating peptides. She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. LaPlante on fragment-based drug discovery and improvement of Hit to Lead (H2L) by rational design based on crystallographic data, advanced NMR and computational techniques.
